Backing Up Your Serv-U 7.x Settings
By default Serv-U stores all Domain and Server settings the Serv-U.Archive file and the Users folder. To back up your settings, make a copy of these the .archive file and a copy of the Users folder and store them on a remote drive or disk. When you install Serv-U on a new server, or in the case of data loss, simply reinstall Serv-U, shut it down, then copy the .archive file and Users folder into your installation directory to restore your settings as they were at the time of backup. These files are normally located in C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft.com\Serv-U\.
If you are using FTPS, SFTP, or have registered your software using the Serv-UID.txt file you will need to back up additional files along with the above basic configuration files. You'll need to back up the following files:
* Any file ending with .crt
* Any file ending with .pem
* Any file ending with .key
* The Serv-UID.txt file
The Serv-UID.txt file will be located in your installation directory if present, but the other files may be located elsewhere on your system. The best way to verify whether you are using these files is to check the Domain Limits & Settings | Encryption (for each domain) and Server Limits & Settings | Encryption tab to see where those files are stored.
Backing Up Your Serv-U 3.x-6.x Settings
By default Serv-U 6.x stores all Domain and Server settings in the ServUDaemon.ini and ServUAdmin.ini files. To back up your settings, make a copy of these files and store it on a remote drive or disk. When you install Serv-U on a new server, or in the case of data loss, simply reinstall Serv-U 6.x, shut it down, copy the .ini files into your installation directory to restore your settings as they were at the time of backup. These files are normally located in C:\Program Files\RhinoSoft.com\Serv-U\.
If you have selected to store any of your domains in the Windows registry then also export the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cat Soft\" for backup. To move Serv-U to a new PC import this registry branch in the new PC's registry.
Backing Up Your Serv-U 2.5x Settings
By default Serv-U 2.5x stores all Domain and Server settings in the Serv-U.ini file. To back up your settings, make a copy of this file and store it on a remote drive or disk. When you install Serv-U 2.5x on a new server, or in the case of data loss, simply reinstall Serv-U 2.5x, shut it down, copy the .ini file into your installation directory to restore your settings as they were at the time of backup. These files are normally located in C:\Program Files\Serv-U\.
NOTE: Before backing up the file open it and making sure that your settings are there. This confirms what settings you are backing up. You should see all the server settings stored here.
